De "Hochzeitsturm" was het huwelijksgeschenk van Darmstadt aan het Groothertogelijke paar ter gelegenhied van hun huwelijk in 1908. De vorm verwijst naar de opgeheven hand die trouw zweert.

The "Hochzeitsturm" was a marriage gift by the people of Darmstadt for the Grand Duke and his (second) wife in 1908. Its shape refers to a hand swearing an oath of marriage.

All these impressive mosaic works were by F.W. Kleukens.
